Save-the-date cards are relatively new. Traditionally, when you decided to get married you called your mother and she took care of the rest. Now, people are spread far apart and stay in touch with technology. Mom can rest now that there’s email and text messaging.

Having a few dozen magnets printed up with your picture serves a dual purpose. It can hold other important notices on the fridge and be seen daily to remind your guests about the wedding.
• Design a calendar sheet. It looks like the pages you tear off of a desk calendar with the big date in the middle. Include an eye-catching design with your names and the location.
• Business cards. They are small and can fit into someone’s portfolio or day planner. You can also pin them to a cork board or post them on your fridge. Include all the relevant information.
It seems like a frill but save-the-date cards are an inexpensive way to get the word out. Just like wedding favors, people enjoy them. You can do them yourself so you can avoid the expense of paying someone else.
