5 Wedding Arrangements that Need a Professional Touch

There is no doubt that prices for everything are going up. When it comes to planning a wedding, you want to make your day special without going through all of your life savings. But, all wedding arrangements do not qualify for the DIY approach, including wedding favors.

It is important to save money on your wedding day but not at the expense of your special moment. Some tasks need to be trusted to a professional who knows what they are doing. Here are five examples.

1. The Wedding Cake. Have you seen the Leaning Tower of Pisa? You don’t want to duplicate that look with your cake. It might seem like a good idea to ask your mother to do the honors, but unless she is a professional baker, choose someone else. The wedding cake is the center of attention at the reception. It not only must look fabulous but taste that way as well. Wedding cake bakers use high quality ingredients and a professional staff that knows what to do.

2. Flowers. Do you have a green thumb? It might not be green enough for your wedding day. Buying the flowers is only half of the equation. The flowers need to be kept in temperature-controlled storage until they are ready to be displayed on reception tables, in your bouquet and for boutonnieres and corsages. It is an immense task and a florist can handle that along with their staff in an efficient manner. There’s nothing worse than droopy flowers losing petals all across the guest tables.

3. Wedding Coordinator. You don’t need more headaches than you will already have with the wedding preparations. A wedding coordinator keeps everyone in their place and makes sure that each segment of the wedding festivities goes off without a hitch. They are used to working under pressure and have a contingency plan for everything from a ripped dress to an AWOL member of the wedding party. You are making the important decisions for the day. Let someone else execute them, but choose your own wedding decor and unique wedding favors.

4. Reception Food. This goes along with the cake. You don’t necessarily need a caterer, but someone who knows food and how to prepare and serve it. It could be a friend who owns a restaurant as long as it is not you. Work with the person to come up with a menu. The advantages of a caterer are that they are paid for the food, serving and cleanup afterwards.

5. Wedding Photographs. Sure Uncle Doug can hold a camera but for the special day, choose a professional. No one will know who you are in the photos if all the heads are cut off.
