DIY Wedding Programs
When guests enter the church, they are ready to witness a testament to love. Since many people attend weddings for those of other cultures and traditions it is helpful to provide a program so that they can keep up with the ceremony. Well-made wedding programs don’t require a professional. You can do them yourself just as there are DIY wedding favors.
1. Choose a color for the programs. Most would choose their wedding colors as the colors for the program. Two contrasting colors or shades of one color make the words pop off the page. You can purchase the paper at a stationery store.
2. Create a sample program. Even though these are DIY programs, you can do the basic work yourself like choosing the lettering, writing up the programs and creating the designs. A sample program lets you know how long it will take to do just one. Proofread the spelling of names and that all fonts and centering are correct before printing the final programs on your program paper.
3. Include all relevant information for the wedding ceremony and the reception. Since you are doing the programs yourself, you can actually create a keepsake wedding booklet for the program. The wedding program lists the couple’s names, the date, time of the nuptials and location on the front. Inside, you have a chance to show your appreciation for everyone that helped. Of course you will have the order of the ceremony including names of those participating and the names of the songs being played or sung. If this is a multicultural wedding or different rituals are taking place from the traditional, include a bit of history about the traditions for guests to read. The reception is important to note as well. Include location, menu (if you want to whet their appetite) and name of caterers and bakers.
4. Have a wedding program party. Get as many friends and family together as you can and put the programs together. You can start a line and each successive station will add another page to the programs. If you aren’t sure how to put the pages together once they are all in order, take them to Kinko’s and have them bind them together into a beautiful booklet for you to hand out to your guests.
5. Present your completed programs to the wedding guests. Your method of delivery is up to you. An usher or two can be on hand to give them out or you can place them in decorated baskets or pails and let guests grab one.
Give those you love something to treasure as a reminder of the wonderful wedding day, along with their unique wedding favors. A keepsake program can be created by you to delight your wedding reception guests.
